Writer Cristina Henriquez to speak at Purdue Sept. 17

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Writer Cristina Henríquez will give a reading on Sept. 17 at Purdue.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be at 7:30 p.m. in Krannert Auditorium, Room 140. The 2014-2015 Literary Reading Series is sponsored by the Department of English and the Creative Writing Program.
Henríquez is the author of "The Book of Unknown Americans," "The World In Half," and "Come Together, Fall Apart: A Novella and Stories," which was a New York Times Editors' Choice selection. Her stories and nonfiction have been published in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Glimmer Train, The American Scholar, Ploughshares, TriQuarterly and other publications. She was featured in Virginia Quarterly Review as one of "Fiction's New Luminaries." Henríquez earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop. She lives in Chicago.
