Entrepreneurship organizations at Purdue create website to boost student innovation
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Student leaders from entrepreneurial clubs and organizations at Purdue University have created a website to boost innovation on campus.
The goal is to make the website, Startup Purdue, the primary online resource for student entrepreneurship at Purdue.
“Startup Purdue is the student-created landing page for all things about student entrepreneurship. Whether you want to join a community, want to start your own startup or join an existing one, students will be able to access that information through our website,” said Anuraag Yachamaneni, a member of the Purdue Student Entrepreneurship Council who represents The Anvil and Delta Mu Kappa.
The council is made up of student leaders from entrepreneurial organizations on campus: Delta Mu Kappa, a co-ed entrepreneurship fraternity; The Anvil, a student-run co-working space; MsTech, a women-focused entrepreneurship group; and 3 Day Startup, a weekend-long campus program that focuses on helping students develop their entrepreneurial skills.
The Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, the Purdue Foundry and the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovationprogram, three Purdue organizations that foster entrepreneurship, also are involved in helping with their initiatives. A video about Purdue entrepreneurial ecosystem is available here.
“We meet monthly to discuss our individual initiatives and events, and to discuss how we can better support each other. We work together to promote each clubs individual events and any other entrepreneurial-related event,” said Yachamaneni, a junior double majoring in computer science in the College of Science and in economics in the Krannert School of Management. “Ultimately, we want to establish a unified brand for student entrepreneurship at Purdue, which is where the website, Startup Purdue, comes in.”
Those interested in joining the entrepreneurial community can find the information through the Startup Purdue website. Students also can find information on internships, part-time and full-time job opportunities there. Council members have written articles and guides to help students better understand the nature of entrepreneurship and startups.
“The entrepreneurial environment at Purdue is growing, and it is growing rapidly. If you’re a student who gets involved right now, you have so much room to grow as a person and the community as a whole. It is the perfect opportunity,” Yachamaneni said.
