NASA’s Mars 2020 rover mission and Purdue planetary scientist Briony Horgan are approaching a new phase in the search for details about the red planet’s history and potential for previously hosting life. The mission’s Perseverance rover is only weeks away from emerging from the 28-mile-wide Jezero Crater to explore new terrain. It’s a point in the mission Horgan set her sights on following the rover’s landing in the crater four years ago.
Eight Purdue researchers were named in Clarivate’s 2024 list of Highly Cited Researchers, demonstrating their research excellence and influence in their fields. Each selected researcher has authored multiple papers that rank among the top 1% in citations in the respective fields, as recorded in the Web of Science from 2013-23.

Each summer, the Purdue for Life Foundation welcomes 1,000 grandparents and grandchildren to campus for GPU — a program that strengthens the bonds between families and Purdue. The event is also an opportunity to get young attendees, ages 7-14, excited about higher education.
