Chelsea Garcia’s journey is one of perseverance. Eager to become an astronaut, she arrived at Purdue this fall fresh from a major success: She led a winning team at the NASA Proposal Writing and Evaluation Experience Academy. With that project in her back pocket, she was ready to pursue a master’s degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering under R. Byron Pipes, the John L. Bray Distinguished Professor of Engineering and a legend in aerospace composites.
Euzeli dos Santos is a Purdue electrical and computer engineering professor in Indianapolis. Santos explains his work with power electronics and, specifically, his work with microinverters. He emphasizes how the established industry in Indianapolis combined with the help of Purdue’s resources prove very important to researchers in the area.
Purdue has announced the selection of four finalists for its next dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences. The finalists will make on-campus presentations and hold Q&A sessions starting Dec. 11. All presentations will take place in Pfendler Hall of Agriculture, Room 241. The presentations also will be recorded and available for viewing on the Office of the Provost website. A link will be available for individuals to provide feedback on the candidates.
The university will be closed Dec. 23, 24, 25 and Jan. 1, which are university holidays, as well as Dec. 26, 27, 30 and 31, which is the 2024 winter recess. Therefore, the university will be officially closed Dec. 23, 2024, through Jan. 1, 2025. More information on the 2024 winter recess and pay practices is now available.
