Purdue’s position as a key player in the future of the pharmaceutical industry will be spotlighted at the Fast Company Grill on Saturday (March 8) during the annual South by Southwest Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas. President Mung Chiang will take the stage at the Brands That Matter panel titled “Innovating What Matters: Driving Pharma Forward.” Kelly Hiller, vice president of marketing for Purdue Brand Studio, also will participate in a high-profile panel, “Bold Moves: How Cultural Resonance Creates Brand Impact.”
Purdue stands among the top of the nation’s major research universities for its number of students and faculty selected this year for Fulbright student and scholar programs, marking a fourth consecutive year of recognition as a “top-producing institution” by the U.S. Department of State. With 14 students and seven faculty offered prestigious Fulbright grants each for the 2024-25 academic year, Purdue is one of just 13 doctoral institutions nationwide to earn the distinction of being a top producer of both students and faculty.

Now everyone from urban planners and environmental scientists to homeowners may access a new algorithm for tree reconstruction developed at Purdue to see how the trees will shade an area or learn what a tree will look like in 20 years. Purdue computer scientists and digital foresters used artificial intelligence to generate this first-ever database, which contains three-dimensional models of more than 600,000 real trees.
