President Mung Chiang and Purdue Convocations hosted a Presidential Lecture Series event featuring cellist, recording artist and humanitarian Yo-Yo Ma on Sept. 29 at Elliott Hall of Music, moderated by PBS NewsHour’s Jeffrey Brown. The event explored culture’s role in society through stories and musical interludes.
Ceres, a crater-rich dwarf planet located in the main asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, was long thought to be composed of a materials mixture not dominated by water ice. Researchers at Purdue and NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab now believe Ceres is a very icy object that possibly was once a muddy ocean world.
In the Purdue Research Blog, Jingjing Liang discusses his recently published research, “Spatial Database of Planted Forests in East Asia,” which appears in Scientific Data and was made possible with support of the World Resources Institute project Mapping Planted Forests in China.” He is an associate professor of quantitative forest ecology in the College of Agriculture and a member of the Purdue Institute for a Sustainable Future.
Three Purdue students have earned the prestigious Astronaut Scholarship for their remarkable efforts and achievements through hours of research and coursework while in undergraduate studies. As Astronaut Scholars, they will build relationships with scholarship alumni and astronauts, as well as pioneers and leaders in their fields of study.

Purdue has renewed its contract for Brightspace by D2L, reaffirming its dedication to delivering a premier learning management system (LMS) for our vibrant community of students and faculty. The decision to renew stems from a comprehensive process across all Purdue institutions. In addition to this system-focused work, a portfolio review survey was conducted for West Lafayette instructors, revealing that 75% were satisfied with Brightspace as Purdue’s LMS.
