Purdue University’s research prowess and enhanced global reputation continue to earn recognition. Purdue rose to No. 79 globally and No. 32 in the U.S. in the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, released today (Oct. 9). Improving seven spots worldwide from the 2024 rankings, Purdue also matched an all-time high by coming in at No. 13 among all U.S. public universities.
A Purdue collaboration led by James Markworth, assistant professor of animal sciences, will carefully test the health effects of omega-6 fatty acids in laboratory experiments. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, the experiments also will clarify which omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil and seafood are responsible for yielding health benefits.
