Faculty invited to curate their profile in Elements
Elements, the new faculty activity reporting system, is now available for tenure-track faculty to begin curating their profile. Users can access Elements with their Purdue login via the link on the Faculty Affairs website. Training guides and resources are available to assist users in navigating the new system.
“The Office of the Provost is optimistic about this new software implementation and the benefits it will provide faculty and leadership,” says Sunil Prabhakar, vice provost for faculty affairs. “We encourage faculty to begin entering and validating their information to build a comprehensive profile. This will save repeated effort to provide the same data for multiple purposes and enhance faculty visibility both internally and externally. We’re excited about the future collaboration opportunities this will bring to our outstanding faculty.”
Elements data is periodically pulled from several university data sources and external sources. Once the data is recorded, validated and corrected by the user, it becomes a valuable, consistent, convenient resource that will ease the generation of CVs and reports, export files, and public profiles, identifying experts and collaborators for faculty and external partners.
“Elements shows great promise in streamlining and standardizing the gathering and reporting of information, including publications, funding and teaching activities in CVs; annual reviews; academic dossiers; and beyond,” says Omolola (Lola) Adeoye-Olatunde, assistant professor of pharmacy practice in the College of Pharmacy. “I’m thrilled about its capacity to ease the administrative workload for myself and our staff.”
The long-term goal is to use Elements to ease a range of internal processes, including merit review, promotions and external program reviews, through a staged approach. As a first step, the use of Elements for the spring 2024 merit review process is strongly encouraged.
“I think Elements will streamline the collecting and reporting of all the valuable activities of our faculty during the annual review process,” says Alan J. Zillich, the William S. Bucke Professor of Pharmacy Practice and head, Department of Pharmacy Practice in the College of Pharmacy.
Each college has one or more college success manager who will be able to assist faculty and staff with questions about Elements.
