Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

Laura Murray-Kolb, professor and head of the Department of Nutrition Science at Purdue University, has been elected secretary of the American Society for Nutrition. Her term runs July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2027.

Bridgette Kelleher, associate professor of psychological sciences, has been elected fellow status in the American Psychological Association (APA), effective Jan. 1, 2025. Fellow status is an honor bestowed upon APA members who have shown evidence of unusual and outstanding contributions or performance in the field of psychology. Fellow status requires that a person’s work has had an impact on the field of psychology beyond a local, state or regional level.

Dorothy Teegarden, professor of nutrition science, is the recipient of the 2024 American Society for Nutrition Foundation Mentorship Award. This award is given for outstanding mentorship in the development of successful nutrition science investigators.

Tzu-Wen Cross, assistant professor of nutrition science, is the recipient of the 2024 Bio-Serv Award in Experimental Animal Nutrition from the American Society for Nutrition (with support from Bio-Serv, Inc.). The award is given for meritorious research in nutrition by an investigator within 10 years of postgraduate training.

Wayne Campbell, professor of nutrition science, is the recipient of the 2024 Robert H. Herman Memorial Award from the American Society for Nutrition. This award is given to a clinical investigator whose research has contributed importantly to the advancement of clinical nutrition, particularly the biochemical and metabolic aspects of human nutrition.

Notables:

The Purdue for Life Foundation earned multiple accolades at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s 2024 Circle of Excellence Awards, which recognize exceptional achievement in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing. The Purdue for Life Foundation’s holiday card and Boilermaker Ball commercial each received a silver prize, and both its 2023 impact report and Purdue Alumnus digital magazine earned a grand gold prize. More than 230 universities around the globe submitted entries, and the Purdue for Life Foundation was one of only two university-affiliated organizations to receive two grand gold prizes, which were awarded to just 32 entries.

Student honors:

Amanda E. Stone, a first-year mechanical engineering PhD student at Purdue, was selected as a Tau Beta Pi 2024 Laureate. Award categories include arts, athletics, diverse achievements and service. Laureates receive a $2,500 cash award and commemorative plaque.
