Work on several capital projects will continue on the West Lafayette campus as another academic year gets underway.

The following road, sidewalk and parking restrictions will be in place this fall:

Life Science Ranges Phenotyping Greenhouse Building: South Russell Street, just south of Mitch Daniels Boulevard, will remain closed for construction on the Life Science Ranges Phenotyping Greenhouse Building. The closure is expected to last through spring 2025.

Nursing and Pharmacy Education Building: Work on the new Nursing and Pharmacy Education Building, also south of Mitch Daniels Boulevard and along South Russell Street, is now underway. The same traffic patterns for the Life Science Ranges Phenotyping Greenhouse Building will remain in place through spring 2025. The sidewalk and street parking along the west side of South Russell Street will also remain closed through November 2026. The parking lot located at the southwest corner of Mitch Daniels Boulevard and Russell Street has permanently closed.

University Hall Project: Though Oval Drive around Memorial Mall remains open, motorists should be aware of construction fencing in front of University Hall. Fencing is also up along the north side of University Hall, closing off the walkway between University and Schleman Hall.

Fencing has been installed around Heavilon Hall with demolition starting at the end of September. As a result, the walkways near the Brown Laboratory of Chemistry and Grissom Hall are closed.

New Residence Hall: As construction on a new residence hall continues south of Hillenbrand Residence Hall, MacArthur Drive from Third to First streets will remain closed. The Hillenbrand Dining Court and loading dock have reopened.

Amelia Earhart Terminal: Construction on the Amelia Earhart Terminalis ongoing following the return of commercial air service in May. The terminal project is expected to be completed in September 2025. As previously communicated, some parking changes have gone into effect to accommodate passenger parking. Motorists should be cautious in the area, watch for pedestrians walking along Aviation Drive and observe safety signage near the construction site entrance.

Sheetz Street: A section of Sheetz Street south of the Wood Street intersection is closed as part of a major infrastructure project that will enhance chilled water capacity for the entire campus. Sheetz Street will reopen to northbound traffic in November. It is scheduled to fully reopen in May 2025. Additionally, the east half of the Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts (PAO) parking lot will remain closed through May 2025.

Wooden Drive: Wooden Drive from Tower Drive to Tiller Drive is now permanently closed to vehicular traffic and has been converted to a bicycle lane. Sidewalks on either side of Wooden Drive are still available to pedestrians.

Work is progressing on the new building for the Daniels School of Business. Fencing has been installed around the former Wesley Foundation building. Fencing will be extended around the remainder of the site in September. More information about impacts will be available in the coming weeks.

Other projects around campus include the Mechanical Engineering Building renovation, Pete Dye Clubhouse at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex along Cherry Lane and a student housing project at Third Street and McCormick Road by the Purdue Research Foundation.

Updates about construction and road projects will continue to be posted on the Physical Facilities construction and travel notices webpage. Administrative Operations supports the university through safe, reliable and transformative services. Continuing to align the physical campus and facilities with the university’s strategic initiatives is just one of many ways the organization powers Purdue.
