Discovery Park District announces DUIRI projects for spring 2025; applications now being accepted

Discovery Park District at Purdue has posted new research projects for the Discovery Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Research Internship’s spring 2025 session. The program will provide opportunities for undergraduate students to work with researchers on cutting-edge research in the areas of global security, health and sustainability. In these projects, solutions will be researched by combining faculty and students with two or more distinct disciplinary strengths.

Undergraduates can see the current list of DUIRI projects and apply for up to three projects at the DUIRI website. Students must be undergraduates enrolled at the West Lafayette campus, have already completed one semester of studies at Purdue and have an established GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The student application deadline is Nov. 1. Faculty project supervisors will review all eligible student applications before making final selections. Students will be notified of their acceptance after that date. Students can only participate in one project per semester.

During the spring, student teams will be responsible for pursuing their research projects, culminating with a poster presentation and one-page abstract/summary of their results. Assuming all requirements are met, each participating student will earn a $1,000 spring term fellowship from the DUIRI program.

This spring, several projects will be co-funded by Purdue’s Institute for a Sustainable Future. These projects will have “ISF” included in the project titles. Students selected for roles with these projects will benefit from additional opportunities to connect with ISF.
