This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients

Aiden Holladay

Aiden (Operations and Maintenance) did a marvelous job repairing the University Street Parking Garage doors from squeaking. Everyone passing through those doors would cringe and complain about the noise; many people have exclaimed about the differences in the doors and their smooth operation. He did a great job making the operation of the doors new again. Thanks! — Erica Wallskog (Anthropology)

Sean Laxton

Our group, Purdue IT Classroom Support, helps support the technology in centrally scheduled classrooms. On second shift we have a lot of work to do, checking the technology in the classrooms to make sure any issues found are fixed or reported to the proper group. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were short-staffed for our second shift Oct. 25. Sean (IT End User Experience) from the Purdue IT Audio Visual Services group volunteered to assist with checking classrooms. His selfless act lessened the burden on our staff and helped make it possible to get rooms checked in preparation for a busy Saturday. We can’t thank Sean enough. — Kevin Turner (IT End User Experience)

Teron McFall

Being a Mac user, and with the recent transition toward Outlook, I had very significant problems with my Mail email client. Several emails were getting lost, and messages were not getting through. I contacted Purdue IT and was directed to Teron (Purdue IT), who was extremely helpful and insightful in resolving the problem. He took the time to come over to my off-campus lab office and managed to get me going within the hour. Kudos to Purdue IT, and of course, to Teron. — Rusi Taleyarkhan (Nuclear Engineering)

Lesa Beals

Huge thank-you to Lesa (Office of the Registrar) for all of your help with registration issues! On the morning of PharmD registration, students were stressed about a snag causing them to not be able to register, and Lesa fixed the issue before 8 a.m. We were all very grateful for the quick response and the help resolving the issues. I appreciate your kindness! — Katie May (College of Pharmacy administration)

Kendra Hodges

Thanks to Kendra (Electrical and Computer Engineering), starting in a new position in ECE has been a smooth transition. I have never known anyone at Purdue so knowledgeable about their school, especially a school as large as ECE. She knows everyone and their name. After almost 20 years at Purdue, to be supervised by someone much younger than me has been eye-opening and refreshing. She supports and backs up the administrative assistants, and I feel seen and valued. Her work ethic and her “work smarter, not harder” ideas have been fun to watch and learn. I hope that ECE realizes the gem they have in Kendra! — Loretta McKinniss (Electrical and Computer Engineering)

Jen Bannon and Zach Oborne

Shoutout to Jen, Zach (both Resident Activities) and their team for putting together the Jay Severson Student Leadership Retreat for the hall club student leaders within University Residences. It was an amazing opportunity where student leaders were able to learn more about themselves, explore ways to lead their teams, collaborate with one another and have a little fun. Thanks for all you do! — Adam Iserman (Resident Activities)
