University Vehicle parking spaces within the north academic campus, including those located on the main level of the Grant Street Parking Garage, will be limited to two-hour parking beginning May 28. The north academic campus includes the area bound by State Street, University Street, Stadium Avenue and Northwestern Avenue.
New signage displaying the two-hour time limit will be installed during the week of May 20. Enforcement by electronic chalking will begin on May 28. Those in violation of the two-hour parking limit will be issued a citation that carries a $50 fine.
The original intent of the University Vehicle parking spaces on the north academic campus was to provide convenient, short-term parking for individuals with a University Vehicle or a UV hangtag conducting University business. The parking and traffic committee approved the new parameters in order to restore the parking spaces to their original purpose.
In order to accommodate the operational need for longer-term UV parking, some additional University Vehicle parking spaces will be installed on the upper level of the Grant Street Parking Garage that carry no time limitations.
