Online payroll deduction tool simplifies donation process
August 13, 2013
Giving to Purdue is now easier and more efficient with the addition of a new payroll deduction tool within OnePurdue. Faculty and staff at all Purdue campuses can manage their payroll deductions through Employee Self Service in OnePurdue.
"This tool will replace the paper form that employees have submitted in the past," says Mary Seyfried, director of donor services. "With the new system, employees can see the breakdown of the areas they are supporting and the amounts to each, and modify their choices at any time."
In the past, employees would have to contact staff in Donor Services to make modifications. Now, making or modifying a gift is as easy as four clicks of a mouse.
"This option empowers the donor by providing greater privacy and the ability to manage their own information," Seyfried says. "Most employees are familiar and comfortable with the self-service system, so it made sense to add the payroll deduction option."
Donor Services will continue to support those who wish to give but either do not have access or do not want to use the ESS tool. Calendar year-end statements, mailed in January, will continue to come from Donor Services.
"It's a win-win for everyone," Seyfried says. "This move creates efficiency for Donor Services and puts more control where it belongs -- with the employee donor. Every day, employees of the Purdue family contribute their time, talent and effort to make this University great. But they also come together through payroll deduction to make a difference financially. With each doing what he or she can, we all make a big difference."
