Nasser H. Paydar to be installed today as IUPUI chancellor

Nasser H. Paydar will be installed today (Nov. 17) as the fifth chancellor of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and executive vice president of Indiana University. The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at the IUPUI Campus Center, Room 450.

Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie will preside. Purdue President Mitch Daniels will speak, and Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard will offer greetings from the city.

Paydar succeeds Charles R. Bantz, who stepped down after 12 years in the position. Before his appointment, Paydar had been IUPUI's executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer since 2012.

He has been a faculty member for nearly 30 years and has held various administrative and executive leadership positions since he joined IUPUI in 1985 as an assistant professor of mechanical engineering.

The installation will be live-streamed at broadcast.iu.edu and live-tweeted via @IUPUI
