Agriculture and climate change to be discussed in 'ideas lab'
The College of Agriculture and Purdue Climate Change Research Center will host an "ideas lab" 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 9 in the Shively Media Center in Ross-Ade Pavilion to discuss interdisciplinary approaches to agricultural challenges caused by a changing climate.
Ideas labs are intense, interactive discussions focusing on a specific topic to identify challenges created by the topic and generate unique solutions to those challenges. This event is free and open to faculty, extension staff, postdocs and graduate students in any discipline. Space is limited and participants should register early here.
The discussion has two main goals:
* To create innovative new interdisciplinary research pre-proposals and teams.
* To create a new intellectual community that will be well-positioned to address the grand challenge of sustainably feeding the world in a changing climate. This community will examine the issue from social, political, economic, scientific and technological perspectives, at a variety of spatial scales.
Proposal ideas emerging from the ideas lab that require initial results or other work before submission will receive priority for seed funding from the College of Agriculture and/or Discovery Park.
