Power sometimes lurks in the shadows and sometimes blazes away. Historian and noted author Douglas Brinkley will bring insights into power and other subjects March 1 in the Presidential Lecture Series. That is less than a week after Chicago dance troupe the Seldoms presents "Power Goes" evoking Lyndon Johnson's ways with power. Powerful concerts by Purdue and St. Petersburg orchestras are coming too. Power up. Don't Miss It!

"Cabaret" from Purdue Theatre continues its production directed by Amy Lynn Budd (rated PG-15) with shows of this blockbuster musical through Feb. 26. Purdue Theatre

Books and Coffee continues with faculty talks about currently talked-about books. This year the schedule has a gap -- Feb. 23 then closing March 23 so President Daniels can fit a turn as speaker into his calendar. 4-5 p.m.; locations vary. Series with links to book details

Global Movie Fest will have one of its busier days among a half-dozen or so showing acclaimed recent movies from Hollywood and other less strange places. Christian music group Casting Crowns, on its "The Very Next Thing" tour and featuring Danny Gokey and Unspoken, will bring its very next concert. 7 p.m. Elliott Hall of Music. $. Details
