Harrison succeeds Irudayaraj as interim director of Bindley Bioscience Center

Effective immediately, Marietta Harrison, special advisor for strategic initiatives in the Office of Research and Partnerships, will serve as the new interim director at Bindley Bioscience Center. Harrison succeeds Joseph Irudayaraj, who will become the Grainger Initiative's Founder Professor Chair in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Harrison will serve in the role as Discovery Park searches for a new director for the center. Harrison also is a professor of medicinal chemistry and molecular pharmacology and associate director of the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research.

Irudayaraj will move to UIUC to further his efforts in single-cell nanotechnology and will work closely with UIUC’s new College of Medicine. Irudayaraj came to Purdue in 2005 from Pennsylvania State University and assumed the role of deputy director of Bindley in 2012. He has been the interim director since October 2015.
