Spring Fling deadlines approaching; many volunteers still needed

Spring Fling, the annual appreciation day for benefits eligible faculty, staff, graduate student staff and retirees, is set for May 25, and volunteers are needed for the event.

If interested in volunteering, contact Sally Baugues at sebaugues@purdue.edu. Volunteers will receive a Spring Fling T-shirt. Spring Fling attendees, if they need assistance, will easily be able to locate a volunteer wearing lavender shirt.

The deadline to volunteer and register for events is Friday (May 12).

A mailing previously sent out to benefits eligible faculty and staff includes registration forms for events and a staff appreciation card that employees must bring to Spring Fling to enter drawings for door prizes. Employees can look for the ticket barrel at the information table and deposit their entry card by 2 p.m. on May 25.

Spring Fling will be 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in and around the Córdova Recreational Sports Center. Bingo, Zumba, disc golf, yard games, the Food Finders Food Bank Food Drive and the Bloodmobile do not require registration.

The golf outing on the Kampen and Ackerman-Allen courses is $30. This special rate includes 18 holes walking, with the option of riding at a discounted rate of $10. To reserve a tee time, call 494-3139, Ext. 1. Online reservations are not accepted for this event. Times are expected to fill up quickly and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tee times begin at 11:30 a.m. on May 25. Purdue staff IDs will be checked as players register at the Dye Clubhouse.

Register by 5 p.m. on Friday (May 12) for the fitness walk, classic vehicle show and volunteer work. Fill out registration cards in the mailing or go to www.purdue.edu/springfling to register online for these events.

In addition to the May 25 activities, Recreation and Wellness is offering a free trial membership to the Córdova Recreational Sports Center during the week of May 22-28 to all eligible faculty and staff.  No registration is necessary. If interested, participants will swipe their Purdue ID at the front desk.

During that week, Recreation and Wellness also will be offering discounted guest passes at $5 per day for persons who would like to bring family or friends. For policies regarding children and to find more information on extending a membership, visit www.purdue.edu/recwell
