Kids cooking classes set for Saturdays at Co-Rec's Demonstration Kitchen

The Demonstration Kitchen at the Córdova Recreational Sports Center will offer cooking classes for kids on Saturdays this fall. The classes will teach valuable knowledge and life skills, including basic culinary skills, food safety information and how to make healthy food choices.

Classes will be held at 10-11 a.m. for 5- to 8-year-olds and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for 9- to 12-year-olds on the following dates:

* Sept. 9 -- English 101, featuring Apple Crumble, Yorkshire Pudding, Baked Beans with Toast.

* Oct. 21 -- Taste of German, featuring Pretzel Bites, German Apple Pancakes, Haferflockenpätzchen (Oatmeal Cookies).

* Nov. 11 -- Swedish Foods, featuring Swedish Pancakes, Chocolate Bombs, Swedish Meatballs.

A child is eligible if the child's family is affiliated with Purdue. Membership at the center, known as the "Co-Rec," is not required, but eligibility for membership is. Sign-up should be done in advance at the Member Services desk or by calling 765-494-3109, and registration must be made by the Friday before each session. The cost is $10 per session.
