Campus units planning fundraising events for United Way
Purdue employees at the West Lafayette campus are continuing to organize fundraising events for the United Way.
Upcoming events
* Enrollment Management is hosting a chili cook-off 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 24) in the Schleman Hall lobby. For a $5 donation, attendees can enjoy chili, including sides, and vote for the best recipe.
* The College of Veterinary Medicine is hosting a Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Entries are due Monday (Oct. 23), and each entry costs $1. Pumpkins will be on display for voting Tuesday through Thursday (Oct. 24-26), and each vote costs $1.
* The Department of Youth Development and Agricultural Education is holding a Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The pumpkin that receives the most money wins. Monetary votes will be accepted through Oct. 27 outside Room 215 of the Agricultural Administration Building.
* The College of Engineering is hosting a "Chick-fil-A Fundraiser" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 24) and Oct. 31 on Purdue Mall in front of the Materials and Electrical Engineering Building. Chicken sandwiches are $4.50, and cookies are $1.50.
* The College of Education is hosting a silent auction featuring both fun and practical items for bidding. Items are being added regularly. The auction is online and closes at 5 p.m. Oct. 27.
* The College of Pharmacy is hosting a fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25 at Chipotle, 200 W. State St. Tell the cashier you’re there to support Purdue University United Way and 50 percent of the proceeds will go to United Way.
* Purdue’s History of Horror Tour is back this year from 7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 27. The family-friendly walking tours run every half-hour starting at Stewart Center’s Loeb Playhouse lobby. Cost is $5 per person. Attendees must register for a time online and then will pay at the door. The event is organized by Purdue University Student Life.
* The College of Science Silent Auction will be open through Oct. 31. Auction items are available here, and items are being added regularly.
* Hilltop Apartments is hosting a United Way Chili/Soup/Dessert Cook-off Costume Contest from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 31. Categories will be hot spicy chili, best overall chili, most unusual chili, best dessert and best costume. The winner will be announced at 1 p.m. (those entering do not have to be present to win).
