Employee feedback sought on recent benefits enrollment, wellness offerings; incentive offered

Human Resources-Benefits is seeking employee input and feedback about the recent benefits open enrollment as well as overall health and wellness offerings at the University. Employees on all campuses who are benefits-eligible will receive a brief, two-part survey via email from Human Resources regarding both of these topics.

As a small token of appreciation, all participants will be mailed an incentive for participating in this survey. To keep employee responses anonymous, upon completion of the survey, participants will be redirected to a separate survey to provide name and campus building to mail their incentive.

“Each fall, open enrollment for benefits is a big event, and we are dedicated to providing tools, communications and support that meet the needs of our diverse faculty and staff,” says Teresa Schnarr, associate director of benefit operations. “We are interested in employee thoughts about the new Benefitfocus online enrollment tool, the effectiveness of the various communications that are utilized as well as other types of resources that are provided.”

Additionally, the benefits team is interested in employee thoughts about wellness offerings. The University invests in a variety of wellness offerings today, including the Center for Healthy Living on the West Lafayette campus, Castlight, LiveHealth Online, Virta Health and more.

As health care costs continue to rise nationwide, Purdue leadership is working to help minimize future medical inflation for employees and the University.

“Employee wellness initiatives are important for improving or maintaining the overall health of our faculty and staff,” says Candace Shaffer, director of benefits in Human Resources. “Efforts to keep a healthy workforce can help minimize the need for increases when our team has to set the medical premiums for employees and the University. We’d like to know what types of additional programming is of interest and how best to provide the resources to our faculty and staff.”

Purdue remains dedicated to ensuring convenient access to health care and wellness opportunities. The survey will provide helpful information that will be used for future planning. Watch for the survey to be released later today (Dec. 8) via email.
