Susan Bulkeley Butler Research Fellowship call for applications
The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence is calling for proposals for the Susan Bulkeley Butler Research Fellowship.
The research fellowship recognizes a tenure-track or clinical faculty member or postdoctoral researcher who plans to undertake a project highlighting and/or benefiting women in academe. Projects focused on intersectionality (intersections of gender, race, ethnicity, class, nationality, sexuality and/or other differences) will be preferred. The principal investigator must be a tenure-track/tenured or clinical faculty member or postdoc researcher. A total of $6,000 is available for making one or two awards.
Aimed at furthering the mission of the Butler Center, this award supports the work of an individual (or individuals) interested in developing leadership capacity of women, enhancing understanding of women and work, advancing inclusion and representation of women in academic decision-making, or some similar focus. As the title of the award implies, a research component is required, though data for the research may be from a variety of sources (e.g., survey, interviews, focus group discussions, documents, secondary sources, experiments).
Individual and team submissions are accepted. An application packet must include the following:
1. A proposal, which should be described in a maximum of three pages (excluding title page and references) single-spaced in 12-point font. The proposal should include the following details:
* Project goals and significance.
* Plan to gather and analyze data.
* Budget – Funding needed to conduct the project (as detailed as possible). The funds cannot be used for salary or salary supplements.
* Timeline for project.
* Brief explanation of how project supports the mission of the Butler Center and clear outcomes.
2. A two-page CV.
The selected individual(s) will receive funding to conduct their projects in one year. A report on the project and findings will have to be submitted to the Butler Center at the end of the one-year project period. Application packets are due by 5 p.m. April 9. The application packet should be emailed as a single PDF to butlercenter@purdue.edu.
Research fellowship recipients will be recognized at the Butler Center’s end-of-the-year reception on May 10.
