Purdue Global School of General Education to host virtual General Education Conference

The Purdue Global School of General Education will hold its 10th annual virtual General Education Conference on May 8-10. The theme of the conference is "A Decade of Transformative Practice in General Education."

Since 2009, the School of General Education has hosted the conference, in which Purdue faculty and staff share best practices, research, discipline specific information and more. Organizers received over 100 session submissions and are expecting more than 400 attendees for this conference. Topics will include sessions on interdisciplinary research, interschool collaboration, research in educational innovation, creative implementation of professional competencies and general education literacies, educational leadership, best teaching methods and student support practices, contemporary challenges and trends in higher education, global curriculum and content and teaching with technology. Participants can attend the virtual conference via phone or tablet.

Keynote presentations will be made by:

* David Reingold, dean of the College of Liberal Arts.

* Patti Pelletier, Purdue Global director of learning and leadership.

* Kathy Ingram, Purdue Global Curriculum and Innovation; Jody DeKorte, Purdue Global School of General Education and Open College; and Carolyn Nordstrom, Purdue Global Faculty and Academic Resources, discussing Learning for Success.

* Sheryl Bone, Purdue Global School of General Education; Leslie Johnson, Purdue Global School of General Education; and Jody DeKorte, Purdue Global School of General Education and Open College, discuss the conference's 10-year evolution of growth and achievement of the general education curriculum.

The conference is free and open to members of the Purdue community. Registration is recommended and can be found with additional information, including the conference schedule and panel sessions, online.

Purdue University Global is a public, nonprofit institution that offers education online. The School of General Education supports the academic, social, personal and professional development of learners in their study of general education topics.
