Adult tennis programs available at Schwartz Tennis Center
Purdue's Schwartz Tennis Center will offer several fall adult tennis programs, including courses and weekly group drills, from Monday (Aug. 13) through Oct. 8.
Courses
The three different courses will teach different levels of players and are at least one hour long.
* Tennis 101 will teach the basics and is available weekly at 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Mondays, at 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays or at 1-2 p.m. Thursdays. The first session is Monday (Aug. 13) through Sept. 10 (no clinic on Sept. 3), and the second session will be Sept. 11-Oct. 8. Cost for a session is $64 for members and nonmembers.
* Tennis 201 will refresh and review player skills and is available weekly at 1-2:30 p.m. Mondays or at 5:30-7 p.m. Thursdays. The first session is Monday (Aug. 13) through Sept. 10 (no clinic on Sept. 3), and the second session will be Sept. 11-Oct. 8. Cost for a session is $96 for members and $114 for nonmembers.
* Tennis 301 will teach strategy and stroke production and is available weekly at 7-8:30 p.m. Mondays or at 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays. The course runs Monday (Aug. 13) through Oct. 8 (no clinic on Sept. 3). Cost for a session is $192 for members and $228 for nonmembers.
Registration is required two days before the start of the session and can be completed by calling 765-494-3600. Payment is due on the first day of the session, and cash, credit cards and checks are accepted.
Weekly group drills
The following weekly group drills will be held through Oct. 5:
* Strategy Session (doubles and singles strategy), 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays, $17 for members and $21 for nonmembers.
* Challenge Clinic (one hour of drills and one hour of competition), 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays, $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers.
* Drills & Thrills (intense drills and cardio), 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, $17 for members and $21 for nonmembers.
* Friday Frenzy (fast-paced drills), 9:30-11 a.m. Fridays, $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. No clinic on Sept. 28 or Oct. 5.
For the weekly group drills, cost is per session, and participants may sign up for as many sessions, in consecutive weeks or not, as they wish. Registration is required by 5 p.m. the day before the drill and can be completed by calling 765-494-3600. Payment is due at the drill, and cash, credit cards and checks are accepted.
