Purdue community invited to learn about sustainability with Green Week events

The West Lafayette campus will be celebrating Green Week on Oct. 22-27 with a variety of free events that are open to the campus community. Event registration information is included when required.

TUESDAY 

Keynote lecture: John D. Ostergren, director of the Environment, Health and Safety area at 3M. 10:30 a.m., Fowler Hall in Stewart Center.
* This event is open to the campus community and the public.
* Co-hosted with Environmental and Ecological Engineering.

WEDNESDAY

Eighth Annual Green Week Tree Planting volunteer opportunity. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Event tent will be located northeast of Johnson Hall of Nursing by Stadium Mall.
* Open to the public.
* Registration required, and all volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.
* Volunteers will learn how to properly plant trees from the Physical Facilities Grounds department and then participate in a group planting exercise.
* Lunch will be served to pre-registered volunteers in attendance at the end of the event.

THURSDAY

Final Farmers Market of the season. 11 a.m.-3 p.m., north end of Memorial Mall.
* Open to the public.

Pumpkin Painting Contest. 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with winners announced at 3 p.m., Memorial Mall.
* Open to faculty and staff.
* Pre-registration is required, and pumpkins and paint will be provided to those who pre-register. Pumpkins will be sourced from a participating farmers market vendor.

SATURDAY

De-Trash the Wabash volunteer opportunity. 8:30-11:30 a.m., Tapawingo Park.
* Open to the public.
* Registration required, and all volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes.
* Sponsored by the Tippecanoe Partnership for Water Quality and the Wabash Riverkeepers.
