Upcoming workshop to plant seeds for harvesting freshest, most nutritious food from home garden

As spring grows closer, the Center for Healthy Living is offering a workshop targeted at those employees who are interested in learning more about gardening. “Getting to the Root of Wellness” takes place 3:15 to 4 p.m. April 4 in the Córdova Recreational Sports Center’s Wellness Conference Room (Room 2236).

Presented by Megan Shidler, registered dietitian at the center, the program will provide some gardening basics as well as possible inspiration for attendees to start their own garden.

“Food grown at home is the freshest, and possibly the most nutritious, food we can possibly eat,” Shidler says. “You don’t need a spacious garden or a green thumb to grow your own produce. During the program, I’ll provide information needed to help individuals learn how to cultivate healthy foods right from their own yards.”

Interested individuals should register by April 3 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. Registration link can be found under “Wellness Events” on the portal’s homepage.

Workshops provided by the Center for Healthy Living are free to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan.
