Higher Learning Commission reaccreditation visit scheduled for October

The Higher Learning Commission has announced the dates of its visit to Purdue’s West Lafayette campus as part of the University’s regular 10-year reaccreditation process. Purdue last received full accreditation in 2010 and has been continually accredited since 1913.

The Higher Learning Commission is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit degree-granting colleges and universities. Institutions are evaluated against a set of standards they must meet to receive or maintain accredited status. The process for reaccreditation includes a long-term self-study and site visit by a peer-review team.

The first draft of Purdue’s self-study, being developed by the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment and Effectiveness, will be published during the summer for review by the Purdue community.

The two-day HLC visit will be conducted by an eight-member team of peer reviewers on Oct. 14-15. Reviewers will conduct meetings with university administrators, faculty, staff and students as well as conduct forums for those who wish to take part.

Peer reviewers for the October HLC visit will be:

  • Marius Boboc, vice provost for academic planning, Cleveland State University (chair).
  • Malinda M. Matney, director of assessment, Center for Research on Learning and Teaching, University of Michigan.
  • Jonathan S. Overocker, associate vice chancellor for student affairs, University of Nebraska.
  • Lesley Anne Cottrell, professor, West Virginia University.
  • Gary Sandefur, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs, Oklahoma State University.
  • Elaine M. Klein, director, university general education, University of Wisconsin.
  • Brian Rigling, professor, Wright State University.
  • Mardy T. Eimers, vice provost for institutional research and quality improvement, University of Missouri.
