Purdue to host 10th annual Conference for Pre-Tenure Women

The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence in collaboration with the Office of the Provost will hold the 10th annual Conference for Pre-Tenure Women on Sept. 5-6 with the theme "Achieving Promotion: You Can Do It!"

Offered each fall since 2010, the conference brings pre-tenure women faculty from across the country together on Purdue’s campus to discuss, share information, learn strategies and meet with others in an effort to raise women’s success in earning tenure. Although this conference focuses on pre-tenure women, all faculty including clinical faculty, as well as postdoctoral personnel and graduate students, can benefit from the strategies and insights offered by the keynote speakers, workshop and breakout sessions. Men are welcome to participate.

Keynote presentations will be made by:

* Neeli Bendapudi, president of the University of Louisville, on "Authentic Leadership."

* Marta Tienda, the Maurice P. During Professor in Demographic Studies and professor of sociology and public affairs at Princeton University, on "Opportunity, Luck and Grit: Reflections on Social Mobility Then and Now."

Registration is available here. Cost for the conference:

  • General registration through Aug. 9: $150
  • General registration after Aug. 9: $200
  • Graduate student and postdoc registration: $50

Purdue faculty attending the conference, even if only the keynote presentations, must register. Faculty should email the Butler Center at butlercenter@purdue.edu for special pricing before registering.

More information, including the conference schedule, workshop, and breakout sessions, is available on the conference webpage.
