Wellness workshop to help align thoughts, feelings, actions to achieve consistency

The Center for Healthy Living (CHL) on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus is offering a workshop titled “Thoughts, Feelings and Actions Aligned” to teach participants strategies to achieve consistency and also to handle inconsistencies in a healthy manner. Led by Amanda Douglas, employee assistance counselor at CHL, the workshop will take place 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. June 12 in Stewart Center, Room 307.

“Humans are psychologically hardwired for consistency,” Douglas says. “In a lifestyle where we may feel socially obligated to seem and behave one way at work, another way at a sports game and yet another way at home, challenges can arise. This can also make big life events especially challenging. We will explore how our thoughts, feelings and actions are intertwined and learn ways about how we can keep consistency among the three.”

Those interested should register by June 11 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. The registration link can be found under the “Engage” tab, “Wellness Events” on the portal’s homepage.

Additionally, this workshop will be offered as a webinar from noon to 1 p.m. June 26. Registration for the webinar is also available online; the deadline to register is June 25.

Workshops provided by the Center for Healthy Living are free to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan. Any questions can be directed to 765-494-0111.
