The Office of the Provost has announced the appointment of Lisa Mauer as interim associate vice provost for faculty affairs, effective July 1. She is a professor of food science, director of the Center for Food Safety Engineering, and a member of the Whistler Center for Carbohydrate Research. Mauer has received numerous research, teaching, mentoring and advising awards during her 18 years at Purdue, and in 2017-18, she was a fellow of the Big Ten Academic Alliance Academic Leadership Program.

“Lisa’s leadership experience and history at Purdue make her an ideal addition to the Provost’s Office during this interim period,” said Peter Hollenbeck, vice provost for faculty affairs. “We’re confident that her talents and perspective will help us move key faculty initiatives forward.”

Mauer will fill the position formerly held by Jessica Huber, who has served as associate vice provost for faculty affairs since January 2017. Huber has been named the associate dean for research in the College of Health and Human Sciences.

“Jessica has been an invaluable contributor to the work of the Provost’s Office, particularly in managing the COACHE initiative, faculty development, and leadership training,” Hollenbeck said. “We wish her great success in her new role.”

The associate vice provost for faculty affairs provides leadership for initiatives that support faculty recruitment, hiring, retention, development and career success. An internal search to permanently fill the position will begin in the fall.
