Systemwide policy and standard update

The Executive Policy Review Group took action on the following systemwide policies effective Sunday (Sept. 1).

  • Effort Reporting (II.C.1)
Updates to this policy align effort reporting periods with payroll periods and eliminate all paper Personnel Activity Reports (PAR), which are now completed online in the SEEMLESS application.
  • Moving Allowances and Expense Reimbursements (II.A.2)
Updates to this policy align references to staff classifications with current University terminology and provide notice that both moving allowances and moving expense reimbursements are taxable as income under recent changes in tax law.
  • Incident Response (VII.B.3) and Social Security Numbers Policy (VII.B.7)
These two policies are withdrawn and superseded by the two systemwide standards noted below.

In addition, the following new systemwide standards were effective Sunday.

  • IT Security Incident Response (S-17)
This standard clarifies the scope of its application and removes the requirement for regional campuses to implement their own response plans; all campuses will utilize the same process for responding to IT security incidents.
  • Social Security Numbers (S-18)
This standard updates the former policy on the subject to reflect current practices in the handling and safekeeping of Social Security numbers.

These policies and standards apply to Purdue systemwide except for Purdue University Global. Visit the new and revised policies page on the University Policy Office website for links to the full text of these systemwide policies and standards.
