Academic rigor to be discussed at faculty town hall

Interested faculty are invited to attend a town hall from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 29 on the topic of academic rigor. The meeting will take place in the West Faculty Lounge of Purdue Memorial Union.

Timothy Bond, associate professor of economics, and Kevin Mumford, associate professor of economics, will present their report on academic rigor/grade inflation that was prepared for the Krannert School of Management. The report, which explores the sources of grade inflation at the university and college level over a nine-year period, was shared in the fall with the University Senate.

Opening remarks will be given by Provost Jay Akridge and the discussion will be moderated by Cheryl Cooky, chair of the University Senate.

Those unable to attend in person can join in by viewing the livestream at http://www.kaltura.com/tiny/k5697.

Questions for the panel can be submitted to PurdueUniversitySenate@purdue.edu.
