Training series to help employees become better job candidates

Talent Acquisition in Human Resources is offering Moving Forward in Four as a four-part training series designed for current employees to strengthen their chances for internal opportunities at Purdue.

Participants will move progressively through four sessions that are designed to build upon one another, so attendees should be prepared to participate in all four sessions.

Create Your Path with Personal Brand, Social Media and Networking
March 4 (W). 10 a.m.-noon. Beering Hall, Room 1255.
Employees at Purdue already have a great start on the path to a strong career. The next plan of action should be to make sure that this future Purdue path keeps a focus on doing something the employee enjoys and excels at, making their career goals a reality. Attending this session will mean learning some of the basics of the hiring process at Purdue, opening the mind to some self-discovery and personal brand, and maybe even exploring a range of possibilities not yet considered to make that Purdue path navigational.

Resume Builder
March 11 (W). 10 a.m.-noon. Beering Hall, Room 1255.
What will get that resume and cover letter noticed? At this session, participants will learn how to build a strong resume and compose a cover letter that will highlight their work-related knowledge and experience. In addition to tips and trends, the session also will bust some well-established but untrue resume myths.

The Interview
March 18 (W). 10 a.m.-noon. Beering Hall, Room 1255.
How do I prepare for the interview? This session will provide individuals with tips that will help participants walk into an interview more prepared and more confident, resulting in a more positive experience.

Workshop
April 1 (W). 9:30 a.m.-noon (note extended time). Beering Hall, Room 1255.
Participants will meet individually with Talent Acquisition professionals to review their resume and participate in a mock interview. Participants will be provided with constructive feedback on their resume and interviewing skills.

Participation is limited to 20, and online registration is available.
