Butler Center offering workshop on 'Courageous Dialogues'

The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence is inviting faculty, staff and students to its workshop “How Can You Engage in Courageous Dialogues?" scheduled for 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Feb. 9.

The Courageous Dialogue workshop will provide a framework for engaging in meaningful and impactful conversations around the issues of values alignment, racial inequality, and creating stronger communities. As people continue to manage life in the pandemic, react and respond to civil unrest, and work through the dynamics of a national election this fall, organizers feel this topic will be helpful to organizations as they prepare to engage students in what could be very challenging conversations.

The workshop will be offered by LeaderShape, and the session will be conducted by Cara Meixner, executive director of the Center for Faculty Innovation, James Madison University, and Becca Berkey, director of community-engaged teaching and research in the Office of City and Community Engagement, Northeastern University.

The workshop is a precursor to the upcoming Courageous Conversations sessions in February and March. It is not, however, a prerequisite.

Attendance is limited to 60 participants, but there will be a waitlist option. A repeat offering of the workshop also will be considered.

Registration is required and should be completed online. For more information, contact butlercenter@purdue.edu.
