Three honored by CSSAC for excellence, spirit of work

Three awards for outstanding work and performance and attitude were presented recently by CSSAC, the Campus Support Staff Advisory Committee.
The awards, which were announced at the Dec. 14 CSSAC meeting, were:
* The Eudoxia Girard Martin Award, awarded to Cindy Holderbaum, administrative assistant of academic programs in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.

* CSSAC Excellence Award for Clerical Staff, awarded to Kathy O’Brien, Student Success.
* CSSAC Excellence Award for Service Staff, awarded to Pat Carducci, Building Services.
Holderbaum’s nominator wrote that she “handles every question and issue with eagerness to help, maintains grace and a positive attitude when urgent matters and deadlines arise, and brings our community together in ways that far surpass her job description and demonstrate her love and care for the students, faculty and staff of the Weldon School.”

Holderbaum, who has worked at the Weldon School for more than 15 years and was described as the “heart of BME,” received a medallion, a framed description of Martin’s life, and a $1,000 honorarium.
One of O’Brien’s nominators wrote that O’Brien’s work ethic is impeccable and that it is “not an understatement to say that she is the glue that holds the department together, even during the most challenging times.”
One of Carducci’s nominators wrote that he consistently goes above and beyond in his role and is “self-motivated, supports his fellow co-workers and is one of the best examples of an employee with a strong work ethic.”
The recipients of the CSSAC Excellence Awards receive a plaque and $1,500 (subject to withholdings). Any member of the University community may make a nomination.
