PUPD to offer free active threat training in February
As part of an outreach effort for the campus community, the Purdue University Police Department in February is offering free, in-person training classes for potential active threat events.
Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (C.R.A.S.E.) classes will be held on Feb. 15. The class provides strategies, guidance, and plan options for surviving an active threat event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, and preparing in advance what your response will be.
C.R.A.S.E. was designed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (A.L.E.R.R.T.) in 2004.
The sessions are:
- Feb. 15: 9-10:30 a.m.
- Feb. 15: 1-2:30 p.m.
- Feb. 15: 3-4:30 p.m.
These are duplicate sessions, so only register for one.
The training will be held at the Purdue University Police Department (TERY Conference Room), 205 S. Martin Jischke Drive.
To register for one of these sessions, contact Lt. Sarah Clark at sclark32@purdue.edu. Indicate the preferred session when registering.
Affiliation with Purdue is not required to register; however, priority will be given to Purdue faculty, staff, students and affiliates.
In addition to the C.R.A.S.E. classes, PUPD offers additional community outreach events throughout the year, including Verbal De-escalation training.
