Two months to go until Carmel Marathon Weekend; discounts, training available
Purdue University Human Resources is offering a 50% discount on registration fees to Purdue faculty, staff and their families for the 13th annual Carmel Marathon Weekend races. The event takes place April 7 and 8 in Carmel, Indiana. The discount is good for all race distances.
To start the weekend, runners and walkers are invited to the Fitness Expo and packet pickup.
- Date/Time: Friday, April 7, 2023 – 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET
- Location: Carmel High School - Freshman Cafeteria (Door 16)
- Expo Parking: Parking at Carmel High School is free.
There is NO packet pickup available on race morning, so participants need to ensure their packets are picked up on Friday. Picking up a packet for others is easy; no ID or confirmation email is required.
A pasta dinner also will be held. Details will be released once finalized.
The weekend offers five races, all of which take place on April 8. Individuals can register for whichever race best suits them.
- Marathon – 26.2 miles (Boston Marathon Qualifier).
- Half-Marathon – 13.1 miles.
- 10K – 6.2 miles.
- 5K – 3.1 miles.
- Marathon Relay (four-person teams) – approximately 6.55 miles per runner.
The discount code, valid for a 50% discount off registration fees for all race distances, is HEALTHYBOILER. Registration is available here. Additionally, each race has a limited number of participants. Register early to ensure your place in the race and to save the maximum amount on your registration. The event supports the behavioral health, financial wellness and physical health pillars of Purdue’s Healthy Boiler Program.
Get ready to run or walk
The event is open to runners from beginner to novice, as well as walkers. Those who are interested in training for the event can utilize the help of Purdue health coaches to get themselves ready to run or walk. Health coaches are available to all benefits-eligible employees and dependents covered on a Purdue health plan.

Additionally, runners and walkers can get training pointers from a well-known runner. Known for his training plans, runner and writer Hal Higdon has eight-week training plans for 5Ks and 10Ks available for individuals to use as they get ready to race.
