Women in Leadership Institute now accepting breakout session proposals
The Purdue Women in Leadership Institute is inviting faculty, staff, students and community members to submit breakout session proposals for its March 4 event. The dynamic one-day conference exists to develop the leadership capacity of women and to expose participants to important social issues affecting women.
The institute is hosted by Purdue’s chapter of the American Association for University Women and the Roger C. Stewart Leadership and Professional Development department with the aim to inspire attendees to contribute to a global society in which women are equal, active leaders and citizens.
The WLI planning committee is requesting faculty, staff, students and community members to submit a proposal for a 50-minute breakout session that connects back to at least one issue affecting women and girls as outlined in the Purdue AAUW mission statement. Issues include topics such as, but not limited to, pay equity, sexual violence, Title IX, reproductive rights, civil rights, LGBTQ issues, education and politics. Session proposals can be submitted through the link below through Feb. 15, and decisions about proposal selections will be announced by Feb. 18.
“By submitting a proposal to WLI, you will be contributing to a collaborative opportunity for women to share knowledge about aspects of life that they may not otherwise get to discuss,” said Mikayla John, student chair of the WLI planning committee. “We’d also love for you to encourage your students to register for the event where they will hear from an inspiring keynote speaker; explore one of eight intensive workshops; enjoy lunch; attend a breakout panel; engage in roundtable discussions; and network with fellow students, administrators and community leaders.”
Session proposals can be submitted here. To learn more about WLI and to register to attend, visit the conference website.
