Classroom renovations signal continued progress for Transformative Education 2.0

The Classroom Master Plan Implementation Committee has announced phase 1 classroom renovation projects that will take place this summer.  The rooms and locations of this phase of renovations can be found on the project website.

“Prioritizing our academic infrastructure is a crucial component of Transformative Education 2.0,” said Jenna Rickus, vice provost for teaching and learning. “Investing in these renovations is an important step for supporting teaching excellence and student success.”

The Classroom Master Plan was endorsed and funded last fall by the Board of Trustees and is aimed at improving overall classroom quality, supporting enrollment growth and enhancing space to better support active learning and interaction between Purdue instructors and students.

Cherise Hall, vice provost for finance and strategic initiatives, says the goal of the plan is to align classroom inventory with the way students want to learn and faculty want to teach.

“The renovation of 23 classrooms this summer is just the beginning of our commitment to evolve and improve our instructional spaces to better meet the needs of our students, faculty and staff,” Hall says.

She adds that future components of the master plan include the proposed Nursing Pharmacy Education Building (eight new classrooms) and transforming library facilities into modern student study spaces.

“We plan to use our project website to keep the campus community informed,” Hall says. “I encourage those interested to check back regularly.”
