Dudley and Lambertus Halls dedication set for today
Purdue will dedicate Dudley and Lambertus Halls during an invitation-only ceremony at 2 p.m. today (April 14).
The two connected buildings have created a cutting-edge complex to support rapid enrollment growth in the university’s College of Engineering and Polytechnic Institute. With a combined 255,000 gross square feet, the state-of-the-art facilities include modern instructional laboratories, design studios, active learning spaces, student success offices, faculty offices, recruiting corners for Indiana companies and collaborative spaces.
The Nuclear Engineering Building and Michael Golden Labs were demolished to make space available for the halls, which also define a new entrance gateway to the campus. This “gateway complex” represents one of the largest academic facilities ever built at Purdue. Here, students, faculty and industry partners will pursue groundbreaking work, taking innovation and discovery to new heights in pursuit of the next giant leap.
Lead donors for the building project include Bill Dudley (CE’74, HDR E’15), Marty Dudley (IUPUI’79, PNW’81) and Peter (ECE’67) and Ann Lambertus. In addition, Lilly Endowment Inc. provided a $40 million grant to help create the complex, the state of Indiana contributed $60 million and the following corporations and individuals provided support of $1 million or more: Microsoft, Caterpillar Inc., Fortinet Inc., Accenture Ltd., Endress & Hauser, Gaylor Electric Inc. and John and Michele Carroll.
The academic buildings were constructed on time and on budget despite COVID-19 and supply-chain challenges.
Dedication speakers include Purdue President Mung Chiang; Daniel Castro-Lacouture, dean of the Purdue Polytechnic Institute; and Arvind Raman, the John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering.
