President Mung Chiang hosted two special events in Indianapolis on Wednesday (June 14). He first met with more than 100 invited guests during a reception at the Bottleworks Hotel following the launch of Purdue University in Indianapolis, Purdue’s first comprehensive urban campus. Later in the day, he joined about 300 alumni, friends, and families at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis where they toured select exhibits and learned more about the university’s next giant leap in the capital city.
The Children’s Museum event was hosted by Bob (BSCE, '64) and Terry Bowen. Bob is the founder and former CEO of Bowen Engineering. The Bowens have been generous benefactors of Purdue, providing a $3.25 million gift toward the Robert L. and Terry L. Bowen Laboratory for Large-Scale Civil Engineering Research and establishing the Bowen Scholars Program. They also helped welcome President Mung Chiang to the Indianapolis community at the same venue when he was named the the John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering.
