Purdue webinar helps families in business maximize competitive advantages

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Initiative for Family Firms will host a webinar helping families in business to maximize their competitive advantages.

“Family Business as a Competitive Advantage” will run Jan. 31, 9-10 a.m. (EST).

Presenters are:

* Maria Marshall, professor of agricultural economics and director of the Purdue Initiative for Family Firms.

* Renee Wiatt, family business management specialist.

* Jim Mintert, professor of agricultural economics and director of the Center for Commercial Agriculture.

Participants will learn about the inherent competitive advantages of a family business and how to use those advantages in a competitive marketplace.

“The family business is a unique organization,” Marshall said. “It is a cross section of two systems often thought to be incompatible - the family system and the business system. Research has shown, however, that the ‘familiness’ of a family business can and does enhance the competitive advantage of the business.”

The webinar is free, but registration is required. To sign up, go to the Purdue Initiative for Family Firms website at https://ag.purdue.edu/agecon/PIFF/Pages/PIFF.aspx.

The Purdue Initiative for Family Firms was created to conduct research and provide information to help families in business succeed. Educators, students, attorneys, accountants and others who work with families in business can find vital information and resources through the initiative.
