Appointments, honors and activities
• Faculty and staff honors:
- Levon Esters, associate professor of youth development and agricultural education, has been selected as a Minority Serving Institutions Aspiring Leader. The first inaugural MSI Aspiring Leaders Forum will take place Nov. 17-19 at the Penn Center for Minority Serving Institutions at the University of Pennsylvania. The forum will create a space for prominent leaders to engage with mid-career aspiring leaders from the education, nonprofit and business sectors in an effort to prepare the next generation of MSI college presidents. -Jay Akridge, interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity at Purdue, received the 2017 AgriVision Award from Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch during the Celebration of Agriculture at the Indiana State Fair. Currently in its 11th year, the AgriVision Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership in an effort to maximize the potential of Indiana agriculture.
