Indiana students to get free FAFSA filing help Nov. 5
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Students planning to attend Purdue University in the fall of 2018 should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before Purdue’s priority filing date of March 1.
Indiana families can get free FAFSA filing help from financial aid experts at College Goal Sunday on Nov. 5, starting at 2 p.m. at Ivy Tech Community College, Ivy Hall, at 3101 S. Creasy Lane, Lafayette.
“With the earlier FAFSA start date of October 1, organizers will hold two filing events and help bring Indiana students one step closer to fulfilling their educational goals.” said David Reseigh, assistant director of outreach services in Purdue’s Division of Financial Aid.
There will be College Goal Sunday events across Indiana on both November 5 and on February 25.
Prior to attending the event, students and one parent are encouraged to apply for their U.S. Department of Education FSA IDs at https://fsaid.ed.gov/. For filing the 2018-19 FAFSA, parents’ should bring a completed 2016 IRS tax return, 2016 W-2 forms, and current bank statements and investment information. Students who worked in 2016 should bring their income information as well. Current students 24 years of age or older may attend alone. They should bring their own completed 2016 IRS tax return, 2016 W-2 forms, and current bank statements and investment information.
