Appointments, honors and activities

Student honors:

- A team of undergraduate students from the School of Nuclear Engineering won the 2018 American Nuclear Society Student Design Competition, defeating the University of Tennessee in a two-team competition. Purdue’s project, the Hydrogen Production Electrolysis Reactor, is designed to produce electricity and hydrogen for industrial applications. Team members are Adam Darr, Antony Damico, Robby Kile, Christopher Copeland, Corey Ohneck and Anna Biela. The faculty advisors for the team are Chan Choi and Martin Lopez-De-Bertodano. Rankings:

- Krannert School of Management rose nine spots to No. 37 overall and No. 14 among public schools in Poets and Quants’ 2018 list of best schools for business majors. Krannert was ranked No. 31 in employment outcomes, No. 51 in admissions and No. 51 in academic experience.

- Purdue was ranked third in Student Loan Hero’s Most Affordable LGBTQ-Friendly Colleges and Universities for in-state students. The ranking was based on a school’s in-state costs and the average financial aid awarded to each student. Purdue received a 4-star rating on the Campus Pride Index rating.

- Purdue was ranked 12th in Affordable Colleges Online’s Most LGBTQ-Friendly Colleges & Universities for 2018-2019. The ranking was based on having a professionally run LGBTQ support center, scholarships, gender-inclusive housing, LGBTQ clubs, organizations, events, average net price, graduation rate, scholarship/grant aid and Campus Pride Rating.
