Appointments, honors and activities

Appointments and promotions:

- Bernie Engel, who led Purdue’s Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ABE) to recognition as having the top graduate and undergraduate ABE programs in the country, is the new associate dean of research and graduate education for Purdue’s College of Agriculture. Rankings:

- The College of Education was listed in the top 10 percent of online graduate education programs according to rankings released by the U.S. News & World Report. The college also earned the top spot among universities in the state. The rankings look at five general categories: engagement; services and technologies; a survey of high-ranking academic officials; and faculty credentials and training.

- The College of Engineering’s online graduate engineering program was tops among Big Ten schools, earning the fifth spot in rankings released by the U.S. News & World Report. The report considered student excellence as well as categories focusing on expert opinion; services and technology; expert opinion; faculty credentials and training and student engagement. Engineering was tied at fifth in last year’s rankings.

- The Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Master of Science in the College of Engineering were ranked third in Online Masters’ recent rankings of the best online master's in computer engineering programs. Methodology for the rankings looked at academic quality and student success equally with affordability also considered.

- Krannert School of Management was ranked No. 22 in Value Colleges’ 2019 ranking of the 50 best-value undergraduate business schools. Annual total costs and early career salaries were factors in the ranking. More information is online.

- Krannert School of Management was ranked No. 11 in Poets & Quant’s list of business schools with the best return-on-investment for undergraduates. The average estimated return-on-investment for Krannert graduates is $195,597, according to the list. More information is online.
