College of Liberal Arts to celebrate fourth annual Love Liberal Arts week

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Purdue University College of Liberal Arts will celebrate its fourth annual Love Liberal Arts week from Feb. 11-15 with a series of free events. Open to everyone on campus, the week’s activities will serve as a reminder of the many ways liberal arts enrich our work and cultural lives.

Among the planned events are a visit from syndicated advice columnist and New York Times best-selling author Harlan Cohen; professional headshots; resume review at the Liberal Arts Career Center; events featuring screen printing, relief printing and “pop-up poetry”; a blood drive; a “free pop Friday” featuring free 32-ounce sodas at the legendary Discount Den; a photo opportunity with Purdue Pete; and daily hot chocolate stations.

Cohen will discuss “Getting Comfortable with the Uncomfortable” at 6 p.m. Feb. 13 at Lawson Computer Science Building, Room 1142. Cohen is author of the syndicated “Help Me Harlan!” advice column and six books, including “The Naked Roommate: And 107 Other Issues You Might Run Into in College.”

On Feb. 15, the American Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit the Centennial Mall area near Stanley Coulter Hall for a blood drive from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Also on Feb. 15, the College of Liberal Arts encourages students to wear their 2019 Love Liberal Arts T-shirts to campus that day. The free shirts will be available from Feb. 11-14 at the Liberal Arts Career Center on the first floor of Beering Hall.

All Love Liberal Arts week events are free. For more information, a full list of events, and times and locations for the daily hot chocolate stations, visit cla.purdue.edu/loveliberalarts
