Goat and sheep webinar to provide producers with valuable breeding information
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Extension and Kentucky Extension will present the 2019 Sheep and Goat Webinar on Feb. 13 to offer expert advice to help producers manage their breeding programs.
The free webinar will be from 7-9 p.m. Eastern time and can be viewed at several county Extension offices across Indiana. A list of counties serving as host sites can be found on the Fulton County Extension website. Home viewing also will be available on the Purdue Animal Sciences TV website.
Topics and speakers include:
* “Using Estimated Breeding Values from the National Sheep Improvement Program: The Impact of Genetic Selection on Flock Productivity and Profitability." Rusty Burgett, program director for the National Sheep Improvement Program.
* “AI: Mating Without the Male." Elysia Rodgers, DeKalb County Extension director and agricultural and natural resources educator. She will discuss various artificial insemination techniques, along with their benefits and drawbacks.
The webinar also will be archived at the Purdue Department of Animal Sciences website for later viewing. More information for producers about health, maintenance and current issues in the sheep and goat industries is available on the Purdue Sheep and Goat website.
