Purdue LGBTQ Center hosting Sasha Velour and her one-queen show

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Purdue University LGBTQ Center will host “Smoke & Mirrors” by Sasha Velour at 8 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Long Center for Performing Arts, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette.

Tickets for this event are free with a limit of four tickets per person. Tickets can be ordered online.

"Smoke & Mirrors” is an effortless blend of drag, visual art and magic. Velour introduces audiences to a whole new side of her artistry through 13 dazzling and genre-busting lip-synch performances, all directed and choreographed by Velour. Velour won Season 9 of the Emmy-winning reality TV competition, “Rupaul’s Drag Race.”

Velour is the creator and director of the acclaimed drag revue “Nightgowns,” which she has produced in theaters in New York, London and Los Angeles. “Nightgowns” has been adapted into an eight-part docuseries for the new streaming platform, Quibi, with Velour as executive producer and directed by Grammy Award-winning music video director Sophie Muller.

Sasha Velour’s “Smoke & Mirrors” toured Australia and New Zealand in January, had a sold-out, eight-night New York City residency in March, and limited sold-out engagements in Los Angeles and London, to rave reviews. Velour recently announced an extension of her tour across North America and Europe to include 23 cities.
